EMDR and EFT Tapping are great tools to reduce anxiety, past trauma, depression, phobias and addictions.
What is EMDR & how does it work?
EMDR stands for eye movement desensitization reprocessing.
"When a disturbing event occurs, it can get locked in the brain with the original picture, sounds, thoughts, feelings and body sensations. EMDR seems to stimulate the information and allows the brain to reprocess the experience. That may be what is happening in REM or dream sleep. The eye movements (tones, tactile) may help to process the unconscious material. It is your own brain that will be doing the healing and you are the one in control." -EMDRIA
If you feel stuck from a certain event in your life, EMDR helps to clear that disturbance so your heart can catch up to where your mind is. It's similar to unclogging a drain in a sink. Once the drain is unclogged, everything can flow through.

Testimonials for EMDR with Heather Severn Callister, LMFT
Male age 52
"I spent twenty-three years working as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) leaving me with non-visible and yet very real scars. I talked with Heather about my experiences and mentioned to her that I had experienced many traumatic experiences and had a list of about 25. She explained that this would take some time to process and that by working on the most traumatic, the most bothersome it would be beneficial and the others would begin to be less traumatic. I picked the worst two...
With one session of EMDR, my number went from 1000 to 0 –that is from one thousand to a zero. This may not be the case with everyone. I know I was ready, I was looking for answers and I had researched the therapy. I feel better about life than I have in years and can say I survived PTSD and will continue doing so. Because of therapy, I am going to speak publicly about my experience and hope that doing so will help other first responders."
Female age 32
"When Heather suggested we try EMDR, I was intrigued, but after researching EMDR and seeing the type of clients that have utilized it, I was wary of it working for me. I have not experienced trauma in terms of what was advertised: PTSD from war, emotional distress from a violent crime, etc. I knew I was holding onto issues from my past that were affecting my present and it was time to take action and deal with these demons. So I gave EMDR a try. It was the best decision I could have made.
EMDR was able to extract issues that were bothering me at a cellular level, issues that I was not fully cognizant of. Not only did I make progress in dealing with my issues while in session with Heather, but EMDR forced me to open up and heal long after the session was over. I had spent most of my life closed and hardened, not allowing myself to feel negative emotions or pain. EMDR broke down these barriers and I had no choice but to deal with my issues and the emotions associated with them. It is hard to explain how powerful EMDR truly is unless you experience it. EMDR forced me to deal with issues I had held in my body for so long and did not even realize it. Thanks to EMDR I no longer feel chronic anxiety or fear of the unknown. I am able to deal with life and situations that I cannot control. Heather's expertise allowed her to see that EMDR could be a good fit for me. The combination of EMDR and Heather's therapeutic expertise has allowed me to conquer my issues of the past, drastically reduce my anxiety and feel optimistic about my future. I recommend EMDR to anyone that needs help dealing with and healing from the hard issues that life throws at us. Try it. You won't regret it!"
